Molkom Folk High School and Kristinehamn Folk High School make up two-fifths of Region Värmland’s folk high schools. Folk high schools are a form of school for adults and we base our studies on the participants’ own needs, prior knowledge and experiences. We attach great importance to students being able to participate in and influence their education. What Molkom and Kristinehamn Folk High School have in common is that we provide education in professional areas that contribute to popular culture, such as animation, games, creativity and acting.

Kristinehamn Folk High School
This folk high school is for those of you who are interested in gaming and nerd culture or see a future in the gaming industry. At our school you can delve deeper into the subject on one of our gaming-oriented courses. We also offer general courses and other preparatory courses for those who want to combine studies at an adapted level with practical training that makes your everyday life easier or who want to take a course that creates routine and security.
Dragon Game Education
At Kristinehamn Folk High School you can study a 2-year vocational education where, after completing the education, you have a unique opportunity to work as a game developer at both local and international game companies. Many also choose to start their own game studios after the education.
A large part of the education focuses on creating contacts in the business world. For those who wish, there is the opportunity in year 2 to visit events and game conferences, nationally and internationally.
Create Worlds
In this one-year course you can meet like-minded people and let your creativity be expressed with a focus on role-playing, larp, storytelling and creating fantastic fictional worlds.
Whether you dream of creating your own campaign world, want to meet new friends in nerd culture, learn to write stories or explore something new and exciting, this could be the course for you.
World Writing – distance learning
This part-time distance learning course is aimed at those of you who write, or are interested in writing, fiction texts such as prose and poetry linked to fantasy (fantasy, science fiction and horror) or texts linked to game culture such as role-playing games, intrigues and campaigns. Regardless of whether you already have your own project that you are writing on or if you have ideas that you are eager to get started with, your own creation and writing are in focus.
Molkoms Folkhögskola
One of Sweden’s oldest folk high schools, with over 150 years of history. The school is located in Molkom, about 30 km north of Karlstad. We have profile courses in animation, film and acting. It is also possible to study for your university entrance qualification with acting as a focus. Our ambition is to always be at the forefront and we set high standards for ourselves and to ensure that we keep up with the latest technology, have close contact with industries within our fields and contribute to personal development and quality teaching for our students.
Animation
A two-year animation course with a focus on modern digital animation that draws lessons from traditional principles and methods in order to best learn animation at a high level. We teach this through 2D animation, 3D animation and a combination, sometimes called 2.5D. In addition to important individual elements and exercises, the course includes several collaborations and productions.
Animation and Creation NPF
This is the course for those of you with an NPF diagnosis who want to learn and develop in animation, image creation, storytelling and other aesthetic expressions. The course has special adaptations in that the class is smaller than standard and that in addition to teaching teachers, there are resource staff as extra support.
Film – creation and production
International course with a strong focus on modern film technology and with the possibility of certification in Steadicam. We have a film studio with Virtual Production and have a close collaboration with the acting course. During the course we travel abroad and we cover a wide range of professional roles in the film industry.
Acting – stage and film
Train as an actor, both for being on stage and in front of the camera. There is access to a modern Black box, for both theatre productions and film productions through close collaboration with the film course. There is the possibility of applying for an additional year where, among other things, you can train as a film and theatre educator.
